Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

MSS405007 - Introduce competitive systems and practices to a small or medium enterprise

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Analyse the current operations systems and processes

  1. Review the reasons for introducing competitive systems and practices and confirm the expected benefits with relevant stakeholders.
  2. Determine any internal limiting factors which will constrain the introduction of competitive systems and practices.
  3. Determine any external limiting factors which will constrain the introduction of competitive systems and practices.
  4. Quantify expected returns from achieving the benefits of introducing competitive systems and practices.

Develop strategic and tactical plans to introduce competitive systems and practices to the SME

  1. Develop a strategic plan for the SME that takes into account the nature of its business and relationships with suppliers and customers.
  2. Where required, seek authority for the implementation of the strategic plan.
  3. Identify components of competitive strategy which will yield quick returns.
  4. Identify actions which will free up required resources to allow for the introduction of competitive systems and practices.
  5. Develop achievable tactical plans which are compatible with strategy.
  6. Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) for strategic and tactical plans.
  7. Consult with relevant stakeholders to confirm tactical plans.
  8. Prioritise plans for order of implementation.
